Delegates at the European Development Days in Stockholm, Sweden record messages for Copenhagen, answering the question: "what needs to be done to prevent catastrophic climate consequences for the developing world?"
Africa Talks Climate was at last month’s European Development Days conference in Stockholm, Sweden to record a special edition of The World Debate with colleagues from BBC World News.
Presented by Stephen Sackur, the programme focused on the challenges ahead of the UN climate change summit in Copenhagen in December.
EU President Jose Manuel Barroso, Barack Obama’s climate advisor Mario Molina, chair of the IPCC Rajendra Pachauri and Changhua Wu of the The Climate Group discussed the prospects for a deal, covering the need for clear emissions reduction targets, the rights of developing countries, technology transfer for green development, and the critical issue of sealing a fair deal for all at the climate summit.
Many of the nearly 5000 delegates at the conference including former President of Botswana Festus Mogae also stopped at our video booth to record a message for Copenhagen. Their opinions on “what needs to be agreed to prevent catastrophic climate consequences for the developing world” are presented here.
